Dancing with Dementia by Jemi Fraser, A Book Review by Pat Garcia

April 3, 2020

Good Morning Everyone,

Dancing with Dementia is one of those books where you start out laughing astounded over the humor describing the incidents, and you end up with a sadden but an enlightened heart on the last page.

Dancing with Dementia, a book by Jemi Fraser, gives us a wide-angle view of dementia taking root in a family.

The medical perspective of dementia is not an issue here. You will not find a medical dissertation that gives a neurological discourse on the brain and how it functions. Instead, you will meet Lizzie and Philip, who have reached their senior years but are still madly in love. For Lizzie, it is her second happy marriage.

Reading about their exploits had me reminiscing over incidents my siblings went through with our mother. I laughed as Lizzie and Philip managed to figure out a way to avoid dealing with their dwindling memory and their loss of movement.

However, even though it was humorous, it was sad to see two people slowly slipping away from the reality they had known and, in many cases, were not aware of it.

Watching parents with dementia mature into the Golden Years is not the supreme joy unless you learn to waltz with it. That is what the author is saying. You must learn how to dance around the complex and complicated situations you will face. Dementia becomes a never-ending challenge as you learn to fight against that silent thief that robs the dignity and memory of those you love.

Therefore, It’s a pleasure to be participating in author Jemi Fraser’s DANCING WITH DEMENTIA, Recognizing and Coping with the Early Stages of Dementia Blog Tour through MC Book Tours today.

The author is offering a tour-wide international giveaway of an Amazon Gift Card. More information on the giveaway is listed below.
