Once, Tales, Myths, and Legends of Faerie by Ronel Janse van Vuuren – A Book Review by Pat Garcia

May 25, 2018

Once, Tales, Myths, and Legends of Faerie written by author Ronel Janse van Vuuren is a beautiful collection of short stories about Faerie Land. Van Vuureninvites you to enter the world of make-believe, where things are not as they seem; where animals and nature are portrayed to show us that life changes, and new beginnings begin.

Sixteen different stories of tales, myths, and legends, with a motive behind them and a lesson to be learned. I was so impressed by the author’s selections that she included in her book that I invested and bought a copy, although I had an ARC copy to review.

Van Vuuren has an effortless style that captures a reader. In my opinion, she presents lessons that one should learn. These are stories that apply to life. They encourage those of us who have made decisions, which have thrown us forcefully into forgetting the past and moving on to something new as in The Fae of Bremen or the initial story, Queen of Ice, or Rumour Has It.

Congratulations, Ms. Ronel Janse van Vuuren, on your book, Once, Tales, Myths, and Legends of Faerie.  The book is well-written and well-crafted and well-worth reading.

Shalom aleichem,

  2. Reblogged this on Crossroads and Conquests and commented:
While I am slightly removed, albeit temporarily, from the WordPress community and the writing world, in general–thus have not visited your sites, or written anything at all in the last month–I find myself with this opportunity to re-blog something worth sharing.

Ronel is one of my favourite authors, and yes, I am biased because I know her personally. However, I do know that she is a lovely person with a generous and kind heart, as much as she is a talented and excellent writer.

I am excited about her book, Once… Tales, Myths and Legends of Faerie, which recently released. I may not be able to read it immediately but it deserves to be on top of my heap of books to read, with Anne Lamott’s Bird by Bird. I know, I know, I shouldn’t be openly admitting this. *flinches*

Thank you for this review, Ms. Pat Garcia.
