In Praise Of Lilith, Eve & The Serpent In The Garden Of Eden & Other Stories By Susan Scott
I am reminded of the truism that real thinking embodies real feeling – and vice versa, i.e. that true feeling embodies true thinking and that thinking and feeling are not contradictory concepts or constructs as they may superficially seem. A quote from In Praise of Lilith by Susan Scott.
In Praise of Lilith, a book written by Susan Scott challenges us to confront certain philosophical and metaphysical events we relate to or have been taught. The non-fictional pieces are dissertations written in essay form that make us ponder and change.
I considered the essays, Dreams The Inner Way, The Dream, A Different Language: Symbolism, The Home of the Dream: The Unconscious, and The Well of the Unconscious to be some of the most detailed essays on dreaming that I have read. Scott has a way of simplifying hypotheses and facts so that even a laywoman like myself can understand them and begin to implement change, if I so choose to do so, in ways relevant to my situation.
In Praise of Lilith is also a book of exploration. It explores as its namesake says, the mythology of Adam having a wife before Eve, Lilith, therefore making Eve the second wife. Her argumentation is not presented as the final thought. It does not come across as preaching. It is a gentle, convincing look at a mythological myth to give us something to think about.
In Praise of Lilith, a well-crafted book of essays worth reading. Susan Scott has done an excellent job, and I highly recommend it.

Reblogged this on Bum's Restart Memorial – Andrè Michael Pietroschek and commented:
Convenient truisms simply don’t exist. True wisdom is hard earned, and leaves scars. What a despicable necessity that, in this self-celebrating age of science and environmental violation, we still need solitary ‘crusaders’ making a stand for the real truth under a corrupted Church full of pedophile priests.
Personally I am happy to read that you found a reading which inspired and entertained you!
