Precious Atonement by Melissa Maygrove
Rape is not only a violation of human dignity; it is a degradation of the human personality. Darkness overtakes the victim, and an uphill struggle begins to return from darkness to light.
Precious Atonement by Melissa Maygrove tells such a story. A young girl forced into becoming a woman too soon, and a man deeply wounded by an irretrievable loss. Both have been dealt debilitating hands of cards at life’s card table; both seek restoration and a reason to live.
Maygrove has managed to write a realistic story of the human saga that exists even today. Precious Atonement deals with the loss of a girl’s naïve innocent look at life. However, Maygrove doesn’t leave her characters in hopeless situations. No, she sees hope on the horizon and slowly her protagonists began walking towards the light at the end of the tunnel. Rebirth takes place as both Rachel and Jacob, (Maygrove’s protagonists) move toward those healing streams of kindness.
The healing streams of kindness cannot be overrated in this excellently written prose. This is a love story that depicts neighborly love as a spinning wheel spinning compassion to help two people overcome difficult circumstances.
Precious Atonement is also a book with moralistic tones that are not overdone. It doesn’t preach; it shows.
This was my very first time reading a book by Melissa Maygrove, but it won’t be my last.
I am convinced that good literature changes us. Reading Precious Atonement strengthened this belief.
Great job, Ms. Maygrove.
Thank you for a great read.
All the best.
Shalom

Sis, it’s been quite awhile. I left mainly because I couldn’t keep up with it. Plus the amount of people wanting to connect, mainly for business purposes. You know, “We can do this for you and…….” I had enough on my plate. So now it’s just twitter, fb and wp. I always look forward to your visits.
Love Bro.
